National Library Day – This Thursday!

The library will be celebrating National Library Day on April 12th, 2012.  Our theme   this year is “Books are Out of This World!”  The following activities should provide fun for everyone and celebrate reading at the same time!

  •  Book Swap – On Thursday we will hold a used paperback book swap.  This is an opportunity for students to exchange something they have read for some new books that others brought in.  Each student can contribute up to five paperback books in good condition at their level.  As books are brought to the IMC, each student will receive book “tickets” for every item brought in.  On Thursday, they will return during their lunch recess with their tickets and do their exchanging.

**Please note – students may bring in their paperback books for tickets starting on Monday the 9th.  It is the child’s responsibility to keep track of their tickets until Thursday’s exchange.

Special Day: To help celebrate this event we will have a special dress up day on Thursday.

  • Book Bug Shirt/Spirit Wear Day – wear your Book Bug shirts/Library Crew shirts or Riverside shirts.

We will be spending the entire day celebrating reading, libraries, and great books with great characters.  We hope you encourage your child to get involved in these exciting activities that are planned.  You are also welcome to stop by and join in the fun!

Thank you for your support!
