Digital Learning Day Success

digital learning day

Digital Learning Day was celebrated at Riverside Elementary School on February 6th with students from 2nd through 5th grades sharing technology presentations with fellow students, parents, teachers and administrators.

A variety of applications and technology tools were shared including Google docs, creating a Weebly website, downloading e-books, Wordle, Kindle Fire, education apps for iPads, Kerpoof, Inspiration, Powerpoint and many more.

What is Digital Learning Day?  According to the official website, http://www.digitallearningday.org/, “Digital Learning Day represents a set of activities across the United States that occur all year long and culminates in a national celebration on February 6, 2013.   Digital Learning Day celebrates teachers and students and shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective use of technology in classrooms across the country. The inaugural Digital Learning Day in 2012 boasted tens of thousands of educators representing nearly 2 million students across the country.”

At Riverside, there were 28 students in total, some working independently and others with a partner, with displays set up throughout the Riverside Elementary School Library.

Our Digital Learning Day committee was made up of teachers Mrs. Rosewicz, Mrs. Dembowski, Mrs. Gauger and Mr. Podeweltz – with a special thank you to Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Fraaza for their assistance that day.
