Read Across America

This past week started with 1st graders in Mrs. Dennis’s class using Voicethread to record their facts that they researched about their habitat.  Students did a great job also with their illustrations.  Both can be seen and heard at this link: http://voicethread.com/share/4192067/

Mrs. King’s class used Voicethread to share their Reader’s Theatre productions.  Here is a link to their plays – Enjoy!

Mrs. Treptow and myself worked with a handful of students from her class before school on Tuesday to introduce and train them in iMovie for an upcoming time line project.  It will be exciting to see these “tech helpers” train their peers using the Mac Air laptops later this month!DSCN0174
Mrs. Gauger’s and Miss Jensen’s classes did a great job recording their book recommendations this past week.  There was a lot of great vocal expression and enthusiasm for their favorite books they have just read.

Our computer labs and library were thriving with activity as usual with many students doing a variety of activities spanning from word processing to PowerPoint creations.  Students who earned enough Bruno Bucks were treated to a pizza lunch in the library.

We finished the week celebrating with Read Across America with students dressing up and lots of read aloud fun!  We had students as “guest readers”, played Dr. Seuss trivia and even had a few games of Dr. Seuss Jeopardy.DSCN0182DSCN0191DSCN0183DSCN0189DSCN0194DSCN0186DSCN0185
