October is Anti-bullying month and with it comes a great opportunity to review what bullying is and how it can be prevented. Mrs. D works with our guidance counselor Mrs. Reinardy to teach students of all ages about this important topic.
Mrs. D read the picture book Lucy and the Bully to 1st graders and we discussed what they should do if they see bullying happening or are bullied themselves. Mrs. D used the book Nobody Knew What to Do with 2nd graders and she was happy to hear from the students the strategies they came up with when it comes to this topic.
4th and 5th graders worked during two rotations to create Anti-bullying posters using Google Slides and Google Drawing. Posters are laminated and will be hung up around the school and a slideshow is on the Riverside website.
As the month came to a close, Kindergarten and 1st grade students created online jack lanterns using Make a Pumpkin and Create a Pumpkin in ABCya. Much to the students’ delight their creations were printed so they could be taken home and shared with family.
3rd graders have been practicing call number recognition and using the online library catalog Destiny to find specific books they can check out and enjoy. It is hard to believe that November is already here!
