Our latest rotation just ended a few days ago and we had Kindergartners excited to use ABCya paint to create their own pictures of what they love to do during the summer. 1st graders heard the story Have You Filled a Bucket Today? and practiced writing compliments to their classmates using ABCya Story maker. They also created an online picture and those were printed and shared creating some very happy recipients!
2nd graders discovered many folktales and fables on the Between the Lions website. 3rd, 4th and 5th graders tested out our trial subscription to PebbleGoNext. Many of them also enjoyed the educational games on that reference site.
This rotation we have 2nd and 3rd graders practicing computer animation using ABCya animate. With the option of using up to 100 slides we have seen quite a few well made animations!
4th graders worked on a project Mrs. D is calling “Scoot”. Students make a Google Slide about themselves and spend about 10 minutes on it. Then Mrs. T says “Scoot” and everyone moves over to the next computer. Students have about 2 minutes to come up with a compliment about their classmate before they have to “scoot” over to the next computer. In the end, each student has a slide filled with thoughtful, positive comments.
5th graders tried out Digital Compass (a digital citizenship website from Common Sense Media) and compared what that website to Digital Passport (which we used earlier in the year). Mrs. D collected “exit tickets” digitally using Padlet – getting feedback from the students as to which site they liked better and why.
While 3rd, 4th and 5th graders had their classes with Mrs. D and Mrs. T, we were also busy doing a health check of each of our students’ ipads. Mrs. D checked them out to the students and also looked for any repairs that might be needed to the cover or the ipad itself. Thank you to Mrs. T whose help was essential with the classes while the scanning was taking place!
